Nationwide Limited Warranty Policy
Bench-built transmission rebuilds, backed by a clear, written warranty. Read the full coverage terms below, or jump straight to submitting your Installation Checklist.
1. Warranty Coverage
What's Covered, and For How Long
Elite Transmission Rebuilders ("the Company") warrants all bench-rebuilt transmission units against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service conditions. This warranty is extended to the licensed automotive repair facility purchasing the unit ("Installing Shop") and to the original vehicle owner ("Customer"). Because the Company performs bench builds only, warranty coverage is conditional upon the Installing Shop completing all requirements in Section 3 and returning the signed Installation Checklist within 3 business days of reinstall. Warranty Certificates are issued only after the signed Checklist is received.
| Unit / Service Level | Duration | Mileage Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Rebuild — Passenger / Light Truck | 36 Months | 100,000 Miles |
| Commercial / Over 1-ton | 18 Months | 100,000 Miles |
Coverage expires at the earlier of the time or mileage limit, beginning on the delivery date of the unit to the Installing Shop. This warranty is non-transferable and void upon vehicle sale unless the Company provides written consent.
What Is Covered
- •Internal hard parts furnished and installed by the Company (clutch packs, bands, drums, planetaries, shafts, bearings)
- •Soft parts and seals furnished by the Company (gaskets, O-rings, lip seals, piston seals)
- •Valve body reconditioning performed by the Company
- •Torque converter furnished by the Company (where included)
- •Labor to repair or replace defective components performed at the Company's facility
What Is NOT Covered
- •Cooler/line contamination: any failure traceable to debris introduced by failure to flush or replace the cooler and lines — the most common cause of repeat failure
- •External components: leaks or damage from worn or incompatible drivetrain parts not furnished by the Company (yokes, flanges, bushings, rear main seals)
- •Fluid errors: overfill, underfill, incorrect fluid type, or contaminated fluid
- •Unauthorized disassembly or modification: units opened or altered by any party other than the Company after delivery
- •Misuse / abuse: off-road, racing, overloading, or towing beyond rated capacity without an auxiliary cooler
- •Incidental / consequential damages: towing, rental vehicles, loss of use, and loss of income are expressly excluded
- •Units with altered, removed, or defaced serial/warranty identification tags
- •Electronic components, sensors, or wiring harnesses not furnished by the Company
- •Pre-existing vehicle conditions not corrected before installation (coolant leaks into the cooler, failed rear main seal, worn U-joints, etc.)
Cooler Flush — Warranty Voiding Condition
Debris and metallic contamination from a failed transmission accumulates in the cooler and lines. Re-installing without a proper hot-flush or cooler replacement introduces that contamination into the rebuilt unit. Proof of cooler service is required on every claim. No exceptions.
2. Warranty Activation
Activating Your Certificate
A Warranty Certificate is not issued until the Installing Shop returns the completed, signed Installation Checklist within 3 business days of installation. Certificates cannot be issued retroactively after warranty repairs have begun. Where this unit is covered under the ATRA Golden Rule Warranty (GRW) program, the GRW Certificate is also issued by the Company as the ATRA Rebuilder Member — not by ATRA directly.
- •Submit the completed Checklist by: online form, email scan, or in person.
- •The Company will issue the Warranty Certificate within 2 business days of receipt.
- •The Installing Shop should provide a copy of the Certificate to the Customer.
- •The Company recommends advising the Customer to return within 15 days for a no-charge verification of transmission operation.
3. Mandatory Installer Requirements
Installer Responsibilities
By accepting a rebuilt unit, the Installing Shop assumes full responsibility for proper removal and installation. Failure to meet any requirement below voids this warranty without exception.
3.1 Transmission Cooler & Lines — No Exceptions
Before installation the Installing Shop MUST perform one of the following and retain proof: Option A (preferred) — replace the cooler and all lines with new OEM or quality aftermarket components, and retain the purchase receipt. Option B — machine hot-flush the cooler and all lines with a dedicated flush machine (BG Flush Machine, ACE TransFlow, or equivalent) and retain the service record. Compressed air and solvent alone do not qualify. Proof of cooler service must be attached to the returned Installation Checklist — no claim will be honored without it.
3.2 Pre-Installation Inspection
Engine rear main seal confirmed dry (replace if leaking); transmission wiring harness and connectors free of damage, corrosion, and chafing; driveshaft U-joints or CV axle boots serviceable; radiator/engine cooling system free of coolant leaks that could contaminate the integrated cooler; crossmember, mounts, and fasteners in good condition; shift linkage or cable adjusted per manufacturer specification after installation.
3.3 Fluid Requirements
Use only the fluid type specified by the vehicle manufacturer (or as noted on the unit tag). Incorrect fluid voids this warranty. The Installing Shop is responsible for the initial fill at time of installation.
3.4 Post-Installation — 400-Mile / 15-Day Check
The Installing Shop must advise the Customer to return within 400 miles or 15 days (whichever comes first) for a no-charge inspection: fluid level, leak check, shift pattern in all ranges, and DTC scan.
3.5 Prohibited Actions — Immediate Warranty Void
Opening or disassembling the unit prior to a Company-authorized inspection; modifying the valve body, solenoids, or any internal component; installing with a known-failed torque converter not furnished by the Company without written approval; removing, altering, or defacing the Company's serial/warranty tag.
4. Warranty Claim Procedure
Filing a Claim
Step 1 — Report the Failure
Contact Elite Transmission Rebuilders within 5 business days of identifying a failure. Provide the Warranty Certificate number, a written description of symptoms, and all current DTCs.
Step 2 — Authorization
Submit a repair estimate; the Company will authorize or dispute within 24 hours. No repairs should begin without written authorization. If there is a dispute, contact ATRA within 24 hours.
Step 3 — Return Authorization (RA), if Shipping Is Required
If shipping is required, receive an RA number before shipping. Return the unit freight-prepaid with the RA number marked on the outer packaging. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted.
Step 4 — Inspection
The Company will inspect and tear down the unit within 10 business days and issue a written findings report. Confirmed warranty failures will be repaired or replaced and returned freight-paid. Installer- or contamination-caused failures will be quoted for repair at the Installing Shop's expense.
Labor Reimbursement
Confirmed warranty failures: labor at Motor Transmission Parts and Time Guide hours, max $90.00/hr for passenger cars and light trucks. Maximum $500.00 per claim unless agreed in writing. No reimbursement for no-fault-found returns, installer-caused failures, or external component failures. Towing, rental, and incidentals excluded. If a replacement unit is issued, the warranty period does NOT restart from the replacement date.
5. General Terms & Limitations
Legal Terms
Limitation of Liability: The Company's liability is limited exclusively to repair or replacement of the defective unit. In no event shall the Company be liable for incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including towing, rental, loss of use, or loss of income.
Disclaimer of Implied Warranties: All implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Governing Law: This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Alabama. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Baldwin County, Alabama.
ATRA GRW Note: Where covered under the ATRA Golden Rule Warranty, the Company as ATRA Rebuilder Member is the warrantor — not ATRA itself. The Installing Shop guarantees its own repair work to the Company for 90 days from repair completion, not to exceed the amount charged. After 90 days the Company resumes full warranty responsibility for the remainder of the term.
